Earlier this year, I wanted to stitch a gift for some friends in Switzerland, who had been so kind to us when Hetty lost her sight. They have a very beautiful home decorated with neutral colours, but I managed to find some flowers in deep red and orange on their Instagram, and based this quilt on those.
The pattern is a throw sized section of the Sandia quilt from Southwest Modern by Kristi Schroeder. The fabrics are a mixed of Ruby Star Society Speckled and Brushed, Moda Grunge and Confetti, with a neutral Essex linen background.
I quilted it with an orange peel pattern from Jacquie Gering’s Walk book. It’s the first time I’ve quilted an over all pattern like this and it took me quite a while! I’m so happy with the result.
Here is sweet Yogi with his quilt – a very handsome boy!
