I went to the Sewing Directory meeting in Exeter at the weekend with my dear friend Sue. A great day and inspiring to meet so many creative people. We all oohed and aahed over each others work. Rachel from House of Pinheiro was there – she is lovely, and my first sewing blogger met in real life!
I wore this skirt which I’d finished the day before. It turned out to be very appropriate in a room full of quilters and patchworkers. Lots of people came up to me as they recognised the pattern Sinister Swarm by Anna Maria Horner. A good tip if you’re going somewhere where you don’t know many people – wear a conversation starter! It is quilting cotton, but not as stiff as some so worked well for this skirt.
I used Burda pattern number 122 from issue 4/2012. This pattern was one of the first I used last year when I started to sew clothes. It’s very simple, with just four darts and small pockets so great if you only have a little fabric. I had a yard of this and even managed to squeeze the pocket linings out of it. Looking forward to wearing with a t-shirt and brown legs!
Pattern matching didn’t really happen as I had so little fabric, but it looks ok I think. I’m very proud of my invisible zip – looking back at my early attempts at invisibility makes me laugh now!

Lovely skirt! The pattern looks like the perfect base for some gorgeously printed fabric. I’m so with you on looking forward to wearing skirts with a t-shirt and brown legs – it must warm up soon, right?!

Oooh, pretty! This fabric works great as a skirt! I love this print – I’m using it right now (in voile) as a lining for a coat!
Great skirt. I love the fabric and think some of the bigger prints on quilting fabrics just cry out to be made into garments, looks like the perfect pattern to match the fabric choice
