I’m joining in the Stashbusting Sewalong organised by Cation Designs and EmSewCrazy. My pledge is the same as for Karen’s Sewlution, but I’ve had to decide which pieces of fabric I’m going to use and for which pattern.
So here goes….
1. Dresses
I loved my Cambie dress last year, and this year plan to make the green/pink print (in stash for 3 months) and cream batik (stash for 9 months).
I haven’t made the Derby dress before, and think it will look good in this Liberty voile (stash 3 months).
The navy and black vintage printed crepe have been in my stash 3 years while I looked for the right pattern. There isn’t enough of either print to make a dress, and I really wanted to make a dress! I think I’ve found it in Simplicity 4072.
2. Trousers and shorts
I haven’t made trousers before, and love the shape of the Colette Juniper. This fine denim has been in my stash for 3 months and was intended for a skirt originally.
The simple shorts (Burda 3/12) are going to be pyjama bottoms – fabric is vintage and in my stash for a year.
3. Tops
I haven’t made this top before, but think it could be a staple if it fits well. I’ve had the flowered fabric for about 2 years, and the black print for 2 months.
4. Skirts
Both these skirts are favourites. The green and grey print is vintage (stash 2.5 years), pink (4 months) and blue gabardine (6 months).
And the pledge -
I, Dottie Doodle, commit to using 12 pieces of stash fabric in 2013.
I best get sewing…!

You’ll do just fine. It’s not an overwhelming goal and the pattern/fabric look like a good match. Enjoy. g
Liking your plans! It must be a good feeling to know you matched 12 pieces of fabric to some lovely patterns – helps to plan your sewing in the year!
I’m sure it won’t be too hard to stick to those plans with such lovely pattern/fabric combos! Looking forward to seeing your makes
Thanks for this, I am also going to do it and post soon!
What fun plans! I’m so excited to be stashbusting, too… it’s way more fun to do it in a group than all by myself!
Isn’t it? Also more pressure – but in a good way!
Nice! Best buy all your linings and notions at once, it’s impossible to leave a fabric store with just a zip, and you don’t want to replace all the fabric for new fabric….or would you?
Good plan – though I’m always delighted to find the zip (or whatever) I’m looking for. Not much choice where I live!
Lovely plan and you’ve got some gorgeous fabrics to use. I particularly like the cream batik and the Liberty voile. I’m sure I’ve seen that Liberty fabric online somewhere recently and I can’t remember where now!
The Liberty is from this ebay seller – I think must be seconds as it is never labelled as Liberty. http://stores.ebay.co.uk/the-little-world-of-fabric?_trksid=p2047675.l2563
Oooh, those look like some excellent fabric and pattern pairings! I’ve got a pattern that looks almost identical to the Simplicity 4072 that I was going to use in my stashbusting…looks like it’s a sewalong in more ways than one!
